How much do AWS managed services cost in India? (2026)
Two bills: what you use on AWS, and what you pay someone to run it. This guide sets out AWS's Mumbai prices, how Indian providers charge for management, three worked monthly examples, the costs that catch people out, and what a quote should include.

Managed AWS costs your AWS usage plus a management fee. For a small business in AWS's Mumbai region, usage runs from about $85 a month for one server to about $185 for a server and a managed database, before 18% GST. The few Indian providers that publish a management price start at ₹3,395 a month for a small bundled server or ₹4,999 a month for a cost-control retainer; most quote after a free assessment.
| Setup | What's in it | AWS usage a month |
|---|---|---|
| One server | 2 vCPU, 8 GB (t3.large), 100 GB disk, 200 GB traffic | $85 |
| Server and database | 2 vCPU, 8 GB server (m6i.large), MySQL database (db.t3.medium), 150 GB storage, 300 GB traffic | $185 |
| Production with a standby database | Two m6i.large servers, Multi-AZ MySQL, 300 GB storage, 1,000 GB traffic | $433 |
On-demand Linux prices for AWS Mumbai (ap-south-1), read from AWS's price list on 28 September 2026; 730 hours a month; the first 100 GB of traffic out each month is free. Excludes backups, load balancers, management and GST. AWS India invoices in rupees at the exchange rate on the invoice date.
What are you actually paying for?
Two things. AWS charges for what you use — servers, databases, storage and traffic. A managed service provider charges for running it: security, patching, monitoring, backups, cost reviews and someone to call when it breaks.
An AWS managed service provider runs your AWS account day to day on your behalf. That is different from AWS Support, where AWS's engineers answer questions about AWS services but don't operate your servers, and from AWS Managed Services (AMS), AWS's own operations service for enterprises running AWS at scale, which has no public price.
- Security baseline: multi-factor login, roles instead of shared keys, logging and billing alerts
- Patching: operating-system and security updates on your servers
- Monitoring and response: alerts that reach a person, and a response time in writing
- Backups: scheduled, kept for a set period, and test-restored
- Cost reviews: idle resources, oversized servers, commitments that would save money
- Reporting: what ran, what changed, what it cost
How do Indian providers charge for managed AWS?
In one of four ways: a bundled plan that includes the server, a fixed monthly retainer, a percentage of your AWS bill, or a one-off project fee. Most providers publish no price at all and quote after a free assessment.
| Model | How it works | Published figures, India | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bundled plan | Server and management for one monthly price, by server size | ₹3,395–₹23,065 a month (promotional prices) | One or two servers; websites and small apps |
| Fixed retainer | A set monthly fee for an agreed scope, whatever your usage | From ₹4,999 a month; most quote after an assessment | Several servers and a database, steady usage |
| Percentage of spend | A share of your monthly AWS bill, usually with a minimum | Rarely published; AWS's own support starts at 9–10% of usage | Large accounts whose usage swings month to month |
| Project fee | A one-off price for a migration, an assessment or a clean-up | Quoted | Moving to AWS; a one-time tidy-up |

Is a fixed fee or a percentage of the AWS bill better?
For most small and mid-sized businesses, a fixed fee: it's easy to budget and doesn't grow when your AWS bill does. A percentage suits accounts whose usage — and the work of running it — changes a lot from month to month.
Look at the incentive. On a fixed fee, the provider gains from an account that is stable and efficient. On a percentage, cutting your bill also cuts their fee — most providers act in good faith anyway, but it's worth asking how they handle it.
| Fixed fee | Percentage of spend | |
|---|---|---|
| Predictable? | Yes — the same each month | No — it moves with your bill |
| When you cut AWS costs | Your fee stays the same | Your fee falls too |
| When usage grows | Changes only if the scope changes | Rises automatically |
| Provider's incentive | Keep the account stable and efficient | Mixed: savings reduce their fee |
| Best for | Steady workloads, a handful of servers | Large or fast-changing accounts |
What does the AWS side cost for a small business?
About $65–$85 a month for one 2 vCPU, 8 GB server in Mumbai; about $185 for a server with a managed MySQL database; about $433 for two servers with a standby database, before a load balancer. These are AWS's own list prices, on demand.
AWS publishes prices in US dollars, excluding GST. If your account has an Indian address, your contract is with Amazon Web Services India Private Limited, which invoices in rupees at the exchange rate on the invoice date and adds 18% GST.
| Item | Size | Price in Mumbai | A month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server, EC2 t3.medium | 2 vCPU, 4 GB | $0.0448 an hour | $32.70 |
| Server, EC2 t3.large | 2 vCPU, 8 GB | $0.0896 an hour | $65.41 |
| Server, EC2 m6i.large | 2 vCPU, 8 GB | $0.101 an hour | $73.73 |
| Server, EC2 m7g.large (Graviton) | 2 vCPU, 8 GB | $0.0583 an hour | $42.56 |
| MySQL database, RDS db.t3.medium | 2 vCPU, 4 GB, one zone | $0.098 an hour | $71.54 |
| MySQL database, RDS db.t3.medium | 2 vCPU, 4 GB, Multi-AZ standby | $0.196 an hour | $143.08 |
| Server disk, EBS gp3 | per GB | $0.0912 a GB-month | — |
| Database storage, RDS | per GB, one zone | $0.131 a GB-month | — |
| Traffic out to the internet | first 10 TB | $0.1093 a GB | first 100 GB free |

How much can a managed service save on the AWS bill?
It depends on how much waste the account has; nobody can promise a figure before seeing your bill. Two levers are reliable and published by AWS: Graviton servers list at 40–50% less per hour than their Intel equivalents in Mumbai, and Savings Plans cut compute prices by up to 66–72% in return for a one- or three-year commitment.
Providers commonly advertise savings of 30–50%. Treat any percentage offered before an assessment as marketing; the honest number is the one that comes out of a line-by-line review of your own account.
Graviton needs software that runs on ARM processors. Most Linux web stacks do; Windows servers don't.
- Delete what nobody uses: unattached disks, old snapshots, idle load balancers, forgotten test servers
- Right-size servers that run at low CPU for weeks
- Move steady workloads to Graviton where the software allows
- Cover the steady part of your usage with a Savings Plan
- Switch development servers off at night and at weekends
What should a managed AWS quote include?
A written scope, the hours of cover, response times, how the provider gets into your account, how backups are tested, what the fee excludes, and what you keep if you leave. If any of these is missing, ask before you sign.
- Scope: which accounts, servers, databases and environments are covered
- Hours: business hours only, or around the clock for production
- Response times: in writing, by severity
- Access: a role you create and can revoke — never your root login
- Backups: how often they're taken, how long they're kept, how often a restore is tested
- Exclusions: application code, new projects, AWS's own charges
- Exit: you keep the account, the data, the backups and the documentation
Which pricing is right for you?
| If this is you | Do this |
|---|---|
| One or two servers, steady traffic, nobody to run them | A bundled plan or a small fixed fee — or a managed VPS if you don't need AWS specifically |
| Several servers and a database; nobody owns the AWS account | A fixed retainer with a written scope, starting with a free assessment |
| A large AWS bill that changes a lot month to month | A percentage of spend can be fair — agree a minimum and a cap |
| You have your own DevOps team and want AWS's engineers on call | AWS Business Support+ or Enterprise Support, bought from AWS |
| You're moving to AWS for the first time | A fixed project fee for the migration, then a monthly fee |
| Your stack is mostly Microsoft | Compare Azure managed services before choosing AWS |
Questions people ask
Is AWS cheaper than a VPS in India?
For one steady server, usually not. A 2 vCPU, 8 GB server costs about $65 a month on demand in Mumbai before disk, traffic, GST and anyone to run it; a managed VPS of the same size costs ₹6,999/month with the management included. AWS earns its cost when you use what a VPS can't do: managed databases, automatic scaling and services billed by use. VPS vs cloud vs dedicated
Does the management fee include the AWS bill?
Usually not. Bundled plans include the server; retainers and percentage models don't, and you pay AWS separately, in rupees, through AWS India. Check which kind of quote you have before comparing two of them.
Is there GST on AWS in India?
Yes. Accounts with an Indian address are contracted with Amazon Web Services India Private Limited, which invoices in rupees and adds 18% GST — IGST in most states, CGST and SGST in Delhi. A management fee from an Indian provider carries 18% GST as well.
How much does AWS's own support cost?
Business Support+, AWS's entry paid plan, costs 9% of your monthly AWS usage up to $10,000, with a minimum of $29 a month per account. Enterprise Support starts at $5,000 a month. The older Developer and Business plans closed to new customers in December 2025 and end on 1 January 2027.
What is AWS Managed Services (AMS)?
AMS is AWS's own operations service for organisations running AWS at scale — in practice, large enterprises. It has no public price. Most small and mid-sized Indian businesses use a managed service provider instead.
Is a free AWS cost assessment really free?
It should be, and it should end in a written report you keep whether or not you hire the provider: your bill line by line, the security gaps and the savings available. That is how Chandnas's assessment works. AWS managed services
